Renowned structural engineer Professor Hoshyar Nooshin, from the University of Surrey, has been given a prestigious award by a pre-eminent international committee.
The International Association for Shell and Spatial Structures has handed Professor Nooshin its top prize, the Eduardo Torroja Medal, for his contributions to design, construction and research in the field.

He was also the Director of the Space Structures Research Centre at the University for 20 years.
Professor Nooshin said: “It is a great honour to be awarded the Eduardo Torroja Medal. I not only want to thank my peers who nominated me for the award, I also want to thank everyone who I have had the pleasure to work with during my time at Surrey.”
